Abstarct: Drilling fluid is one of the necessities of drilling oil and gas wells, which is used to control pore pressure and transport debris to the surface. The correct selection of these fluids can reduce costs and increase its efficiency. Nanotechnology in the oil and gas industry is developing new materials that produce higher quality and smarter fluids. Nanoparticles have great potential due to their special properties, but they are still not fully understood and are not used in industry. Recent research shows that these nanoparticles can help create better drilling fluids, especially in harsh conditions.
These fluids have important rheological properties such as yield point, plastic viscosity, gel strength, drilling fluid fluid loss, mud cake thickness and pH changes. In this study, two types of nanoparticles of aluminum oxide (alumina) and magnesium oxide were used to improve the rheological and filtration properties as well as the better performance of bentonite fluid baxsed on sodium montmorillonite. These nanoparticles in concentrations of 1, 2, 3 grams as well as 22.5 and 11.25 grams of bentonite baxse fluid were combined and analyzed with 350 ml of water. Quantitative results in this experiment show the performance of plastic viscosity, filter cake and drilling fluid loss in drilling fluid A, and yield point performance and gel strength and pH changes in fluid B, especially in magnesium oxide nanoparticles at concentrations of 2% and 3%. The highest values are observed.
The results obtained from comparing fluids A and B with the addition of aluminum oxide and magnesium oxide nanoparticles are: In drilling fluid A, magnesium oxide nanoparticles have a positive and increasing effect compared to aluminum oxide, which indicates the improvement of rheological properties in fluid A, optimization In the use of bentonite, there is also a 30-40% reduction in costs, which is economically viable.
