Abstarct: In light of environmental challenges and the limited availability of fossil resources, the development of novel technologies for the production of clean and sustainable energy has gained increasing importance particularly in the field of fuel cells. Direct methanol fuel cells (DMFCs) have attracted considerable attention due to their advantages such as easy fuel storage and suitability for small-scale and portable applications. However, one of the main challenges in this technology is the sluggish kinetics of methanol oxidation at the anode and the high cost associated with conventional catalysts like platinum. In this study, palladium was employed as a cost-effective alternative to platinum in order to enhance catalytic performance and reduce costs. Palladium was deposited on the surface of silver nanoparticles via a galvanic replacement process. These silver nanoparticles were previously reduced using an environmentally friendly green synthesis approach, without harmful chemical agents. The silver nanoparticles were stabilized on a conductive MXene substrate, which, due to its two-dimensional structure and high electrical conductivity, served as an effective support for the catalyst. The structure and morphology of the prepared electrode were characterized using FESEM and EDX. Electrochemical analyses such as cyclic voltammetry and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy demonstrated that the final Pd-Ag/MXene/GCE electrocatalyst, while minimizing the use of noble mextals, exhibited excellent activity and stability in the methanol electro-oxidation reaction, indicating its potential as an effective step toward the development of high-performance, environmentally friendly fuel cells.
