Abstarct: The present research, entixtled Designing an Equestrian-Tourism Complex in Bandar-Torkaman with a Tourism Development Approach, was conducted with the main objective of designing a multipurpose equestrian-tourism complex in Bandar-Torkaman, located in Golestan province, by optimally integrating functional, sporting, cultural-social, and environmental dimensions. This study seeks to take an effective step towards the economic, social, and cultural development of the region by transforming its unique capacities including the purebred Turkmen horse, the living culture of the Turkmen Sahra, and natural attractions into a sustainable competitive advantage. The main problem of this research is the dispersion and lack of effective connection between the elements of equestrian tourism in the region, which has led to a lack of a comprehensive travel experience for tourists, reduced job opportunities, and incomplete use of existing potential. Therefore, the research aims to provide a design that can systematically organize sports, tourism, cultural, and service spaces within a coherent whole. The research method applied is practical, with a descxriptive-analytical approach. The required data were collected through library studies (including reviewing background literature, design standards, and successful domestic and international examples) and field studies (site visits and site analysis). The collected data were analyzed using content analysis, comparative analysis, SWOT analysis, and logical reasoning. Finally, the design process for the complex was carried out using specialized architectural software and considering all research findings. The research findings indicate that the design of such a complex should be baxsed on a five-zone functional pattern, including competition and training zones, support and stables zones, public services zones, administrative and technical zones, and tourism and leisure zones, to ensure efficiency, safety, and a satisfactory user experience. Furthermore, aligning the design with international equestrian standards and intelligently reflecting the identity elements of Turkmen culture in the architectural form were identified as necessities for the success of the project. In conclusion, this research finds that the proposed complex can become a driving force for regional development not merely as a structure, but as an integrated and dynamic platform for sports, economic, and cultural activities. This project is capable of bridging the gap between the potential and the current state of Bandar-Torkaman by creating jobs, revitalizing intangible heritage, attracting targeted tourists, and strengthening the local economic cycle. The output of this research provides a scientific and operational frxamework that can serve as a foundational model for similar projects in other regions with comparable characteristics in Iran.
