Abstarct: This study aimed to examine the role of economic planning in responding to financial and economic crises in Iraq during the period 2014–2024. During this period, the Iraqi economy faced several major shocks, including ISIS occupation, the decline in global oil prices, exchange rate fluctuations, and the COVID-19 pandemic. Therefore, evaluating the effectiveness of economic planning in reducing the impacts of these crises is of great importance. This research is applied in terms of purpose and descxriptive-analytical in nature. The data were structured as time-series data baxsed on hypothetical but logical values close to the economic realities of Iraq. A multiple regression model was used for data analysis. In this model, the crisis response index was considered the dependent variable, economic planning was the independent variable, and global oil prices, exchange rate, COVID-19, and ISIS occupation were included as control variables. The results showed that economic planning has a positive and significant effect on Iraq’s ability to respond to financial and economic crises. In addition, global oil prices had a positive effect, while exchange rate instability, COVID-19, and ISIS occupation had negative and significant effects on the crisis response index. Diagnostic tests also confirmed the statistical validity of the model. baxsed on the findings, strengthening economic planning, reforming the budget structure, reducing oil dependency, stabilizing the exchange rate, and developing non-oil sectors can enhance Iraq’s economic resilience against future crises.
