Abstarct: This research aims to evaluate and select the optimal location for the construction of pharmaceutical warehouses within the frxamework of a sustainable supply chain. Drug warehouse location is a strategic issue in the pharmaceutical supply chain that significantly impacts the efficiency of distribution and access to medicines. Given the diverse and complex needs of this industry, the use of multi-criteria decision-making methods to identify the most suitable location for warehouses is of particular importance. These methods enable decision-makers to consider various factors, including cost, environmental concerns, transportation, and warehouse capacity, in the site selection process. Overall, applying these methods in strategic decisions regarding drug warehouse location can play a crucial role in optimizing the supply chain and enhancing service quality for customers.
In the first stage, key criteriaincluding technical and operational, economic, geographical, social, and environmental factors were identified through a library study of reliable sources and localized for the research context using the Delphi method and expert opinions. Next, the weight and significance of these criteria were assessed and determined using the SWARA method. Subsequently, Sina Pakhsh Company was selected as a case study, and the proposed warehouse locations were evaluated using the MARCOS method.
The research findings indicate that among the main criteria, the technical and operational conditions criterion, with a weight of 0.261, holds the highest importance, followed by the cost and economic conditions criterion, with a weight of 0.238. Additionally, among the four evaluated options for the construction of a new warehouse, the Shahrood Industrial Town warehouse was identified as the most optimal choice due to its high alignment with the identified criteria. This research, while incorporating sustainability considerations, demonstrates that integrating advanced multi-criteria decision-making methods such as SWARA and MARCOS can provide an effective and efficient approach to solving complex evaluation problems, including the location selection of pharmaceutical warehouses within the healthcare supply chain.
