Abstarct: The present study was conducted to investigate the effect of game quality on spectators' behavioral intentions, emphasizing the moderating role of betting. In terms of purpose, this is applied research and is classified as a mixed-methods study, which was carried out in two separate phases. The first phase was a bibliometric study using the reputable Scopus databaxse and following the standard PRISMA protocol. A total of 169 studies met the inclusion criteria for analysis and were analyzed using VOSviewer software. The bibliometric findings showed that the annual growth rate of scientific publications in the field of sports betting is 7.77%, and the countries of Australia (155 documents), the United States, and the United Kingdom have the highest scientific output. The Journal of Gambling Studies with 26 articles and 499 citations, and author Griffiths MD with 17 articles and 585 citations, were identified as the most influential journal and author in this field, respectively. The second phase was a field study. The statistical population consisted of spectators of the horse racing events in Aq Qala County in the year 2025. baxsed on G*Power software, a sample of 166 individuals was selected using the convenience sampling method. Data collection instruments included standard questionnaires for game quality (Koronios et al., 2019), behavioral intentions (Byon et al., 2013), and attitudes toward betting (Seal et al., 2022). The face and content validity of the instruments were confirmed by five sports management specialists, and their reliability was confirmed using Cronbach's alpha coefficient. Data from the second phase were analyzed using descxriptive statistics and structural equation modeling with the partial least squares (PLS-SEM) method in SPSS and SmartPLS software. The findings showed that game quality has a positive and significant effect on spectators' behavioral intentions (β = 0.455, t = 5.547). The results also confirmed that attitude toward betting plays a moderating role in the relationship between game quality and behavioral intentions, strengthening this relationship (β = 0.201, t = 2.324). Overall, improving the technical and experiential quality of races alongside managing behavioral mechanisms related to betting can lead to increased loyalty, willingness to return, and spectator support for this sporting event.
