GV412 : The impact of Football Clubs' E-Sports Activities on Fan Loyalty and Engagement

Abstarct: The purpose of this research was to examine the impact of e-sports activities of football clubs on fan loyalty and engagement among prominent clubs in the country of Iraq. This study, in terms of purpose, is applied, and in terms of nature and method, it falls under descxriptive-correlational research conducted through a survey approach. The statistical population of the study consisted of supporters of prominent football clubs in the cities of Baghdad, Erbil, and Basra, and due to the lack of a defined population, 384 individuals were selected as the research sample using the Cochran formula. The data collection tool was a standardized questionnaire, whose validity and reliability were confirmed using Cronbach's alpha and composite reliability indices. Data analysis was performed using structural equation modeling and partial least squares (PLS) method. The research findings indicated that e-sports activities of football clubs have a positive and significant impact on fan engagement and loyalty. Furthermore, the results suggested that fan interaction plays a positive mediating role in the relationship between e-sports activities and their loyalty. In general, the findings of this study demonstrate that Iraqi football clubs can create a deeper connection with their fans by making smart investments in e-sports and strengthening the interactive space on digital platforms, thus ensuring their loyalty in the modern sports world.
